When the Beatles stepped off of Pan Am flight 101 and touched American soil for the first time back in Feb. 7, 1964, it sparked the craze that England was already experiencing: Beatlemania. Two nights later, Paul, George, John and Ringo stepped onto the stage of the Ed Sullivan show and opened their two-part set with “All My Loving,” to a shrieking and fanatical studio audience and record-setting 73 million television viewers.
